Otofix D1 (Autel MP808BT) - 2 Years Updates Diagnostic Tool Knowledgebase
What is the main difference between the OTOFIX D1 and the Autel MP808BT?
Hardware speed and updates. While both tools offer similar diagnostic depth (active tests, all systems), the OTOFIX D1 runs on a newer, faster Android 9.0 platform and typically comes with 2 years of free updates out of the box, whereas the MP808BT usually includes 1 year and runs on older hardware.
Is OTOFIX made by Autel?
Yes, it is powered by Autel. OTOFIX is a brand created by Autel Intelligent Technology. It uses the exact same diagnostic software DNA and vehicle coverage as the commercial Autel tools but is packaged in a sleeker, lighter tablet designed for younger technicians and specialists.
Does the D1 support Bi-Directional Control (Active Tests)?
Yes, full component activation. You can send commands to the vehicle to operate specific parts—like rolling down windows, cycling the A/C clutch, or turning on the fuel pump. This allows you to verify if a part is working instantly without using a multimeter.
How long are the free software updates?
You get 2 years free. This is a massive advantage over many competitors. From the day you register the tool, you get 24 months of frequent software downloads, covering new car models and function improvements, without paying a penny extra.
Can I perform ECU Coding with the OTOFIX D1?
Yes, for VAG vehicles. The D1 supports Online Coding specifically for VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat. It can also perform "Refresh Hidden Functions" (like enabling needle sweep or auto-lock) on brands like BMW and Toyota, a feature Mobile Eco Tuning technicians use to add value to customer jobs.
Does it work on FCA Secure Gateway vehicles?
Yes, it is FCA Ready. You can register with AutoAuth to bypass the Security Gateway (SGW) on modern Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles. This grants you full access to read/clear codes and perform active tests that are otherwise blocked on 2018+ models.
Why should I buy the OTOFIX D1 from Mobile Eco Tuning (MET)?
Genuine UK stock and technical backup. We hold physical stock in our UK warehouse for Next Day Delivery. Unlike some online sellers, we are backed by Mobile Eco Tuning, meaning you get support from real technicians who understand how these tools work in a workshop environment.
Does it support VAG Guided Functions?
Yes, it simplifies complex jobs. For VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat, the D1 provides step-by-step on-screen prompts for procedures like steering angle calibration or DPF regeneration. It guides you through the process without needing to know security access codes or channel numbers.
How many service reset functions does it have?
It includes 40+ service functions. It covers all the daily maintenance essentials: Oil Reset, EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) rewind, BMS (Battery Match), DPF Regeneration, SAS calibration, Injector Coding, and more. It is a comprehensive service tool.
Is the VCI Bluetooth or wired?
It uses a wireless VCI. The D1 comes with the V1 Bluetooth VCI dongle. This allows you to walk around the vehicle while running diagnostics, which is much more convenient than being tethered to the OBD port by a short cable.
What happens if I don't renew the updates after 2 years?
The tool stays functional. You do not lose the ability to use the tool. The diagnostic software and service functions installed at the time of expiry will continue to work. You simply won't receive new vehicle data or online coding capabilities until you renew.
Is the D1 rugged enough for a workshop?
It is durable, but lighter. Unlike the MP808BT which has a thick rubberised "armour," the D1 has a slimmer, more tablet-like profile. It is perfectly fine for workshop use but is designed to be lightweight and portable rather than heavy-duty industrial.
Can I generate reports for customers?
Yes, via the OTOFIX Cloud. You can save diagnostic reports to the cloud and share them instantly via QR code, email, or text message. This modern reporting style helps build trust with your customers by showing them digital proof of the faults.
Does it support Renault Security Gateway?
Yes, it supports Renault Access. The D1 can unlock the gateway on newer Renault vehicles (like the Clio V and Captur II) to allow full diagnostic access and service resets, provided you have the necessary credentials where applicable.
Can I program keys with the D1?
Basic IMMO only. It can add keys for vehicles with basic anti-theft systems (mostly Asian models). For advanced key programming (like "All Keys Lost" or Mercedes keys), you would need the OTOFIX IM1 or Autel IM508S.
Can I pickup a Otofix D1 Autel Mp808Bt near me?
Yes. If Otofix D1 Autel Mp808Bt is showing in stock, it is available for collection from our Weston Super Mare store on the same day before 5pm. Next day UK delivery is also available as well as global delivery. Visit https://shop.mobileecotuning.com/shipping for more details
