Topdon Phoenix Lite 3 Diagnostic Scanner
Compact Professional Diagnostics with Native CAN-FD Support.
Small Size, Massive Capability. The Topdon Phoenix Lite 3 is the upgraded successor to the popular Lite 2, designed for technicians who need a compact, powerful tool that fits in one hand. It features an 8-inch high-resolution screen and runs on a fast Android 10.0 system.
What sets the Lite 3 apart is the new MDCI Core VCI, which provides native support for CAN-FD protocol (essential for modern GM vehicles) without needing extra adapters. With Online Coding, Bi-Directional Control, and FCA Gateway access, it punches well above its weight class.
Why Upgrade to the Lite 3?
- ✓ CAN-FD Ready: Native support for newer GM models.
- ✓ Online Coding: For VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat.
- ✓ Bi-Directional: Full active component testing.
- ✓ 35+ Services: Comprehensive maintenance resets.
Key Capabilities
Native CAN-FD Support
Equipped with the MDCI Core VCI, the Lite 3 supports the CAN-FD protocol directly. This allows for high-speed data transmission and diagnostics on modern vehicles, particularly newer GM models (2020+).
Online ECU Coding
Perform advanced online coding for VAG vehicles (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat). Customize vehicle settings, unfold hidden features, and match components after replacement.
Bi-Directional Control
Take control of the repair. Send active commands to the vehicle to drive actuators—such as fuel pumps, valves, windows, and door locks—to pinpoint faults immediately.
35+ Service Functions
Includes a massive library of reset functions covering everything from Oil Resets and EPB to advanced procedures like AdBlue Reset, NOx Sensor Reset, and Sunroof Initialization.
FCA Gateway Access
Licensed for FCA Secure Gateway access. Diagnose protected Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles seamlessly (requires active AutoAuth subscription).
VAG Guided Functions
Skip the security access codes and channel numbers. The Lite 3 provides step-by-step on-screen instructions for matching, calibration, and basic settings on VAG vehicles.

Topdon Phoenix Lite 3 Diagnostic Tool Knowledgebase
Does the Phoenix Lite 2 support Online Coding?
Yes, for specific manufacturers. It supports online coding for marques like VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW. This allows you to match components or unlock hidden features, a capability our technicians at Mobile Eco Tuning rely on for high-end German vehicles.
What exactly is the VAG Guided Function?
It’s a step-by-step workflow assistant. For VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat vehicles, the tool guides you through complex procedures (like sensor calibration or matching) without needing security access codes. It turns a complex dealer-level job into a simple "follow the prompts" process.
Can I use this tool to access FCA Secure Gateway vehicles?
Yes, it is FCA Gateway Ready. You can communicate with modern Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles protected by the Security Gateway (SGW) by registering with AutoAuth. This ensures you aren't locked out of diagnostics on newer models.
Does this scanner feature Bi-Directional Control?
Yes, full active testing. You can send commands to the vehicle’s ECU to drive actuators like fuel pumps, window motors, or electronic parking brakes. This allows you to verify if a part is working instantly, rather than just guessing based on a code.
Why should I buy the Topdon Phoenix Lite 2 from Mobile Eco Tuning (MET)?
Local stock and real expertise. We hold this unit in our UK warehouse for Next Day Delivery, so you aren't waiting on imports. Plus, you get technical support from a team that actually uses Topdon tools daily at our company, Mobile Eco Tuning.
Will this tool reset the Oil and EPB lights?
Yes, it includes 28+ maintenance resets. It covers all the daily essentials like Oil, EPB (Electronic Parking Brake), SAS (Steering Angle), DPF regeneration, and BMS (Battery Matching). It’s designed to handle the "bread and butter" jobs of any busy workshop.
Is the battery life good enough for a full day of mobile work?
Absolutely, it has a 12,600mAh battery. This massive capacity offers up to 24 hours of screen-on time. Our mobile technicians at Mobile Eco Tuning (MET) love it because they can go days without needing to plug it into a charger.
Does it work on light commercial vehicles like a Ford Transit?
Yes, it covers 12V light commercials. The Phoenix Lite 2 has excellent coverage for vans and light trucks (like Transits and Sprinters) alongside standard passenger cars, making it a versatile choice for mixed fleets.
Can I generate and print diagnostic reports for customers?
Yes, you can create Pre- and Post-Scan reports. You can generate a professional PDF report showing faults before the repair and a clean bill of health afterwards. These can be emailed directly to the customer or printed to justify your labour time.
Does the software stop working if I don't pay for updates?
No, the tool never "times out". You typically get 2 years of free updates included. If you choose not to renew after that, the tool continues to function with the last installed software version, ensuring your investment remains usable.
Do I need an internet connection to diagnose a car?
Not for standard diagnostics. You can read codes, view live data, and perform active tests offline. However, you will need Wi-Fi for Online Coding functions and to download software updates.
Can I view the vehicle's network topology on this unit?
It is often an optional upgrade. While the Lite 2 is a powerhouse, the full Topology Mapping view (a colour-coded tree of all modules) is typically a paid software add-on for this specific model. Check the current bundle options on Mobile Eco Tuning (MET) or ask our support team.
Is this tool suitable for a beginner or DIY user?
Yes, thanks to the interface. While it has professional depth, the Android 10.0 interface is user-friendly. Features like "AutoVIN" identify the car instantly, so you don't have to manually select the make and model.
How do I update the software?
It’s a one-click process via Wi-Fi. When a new patch or manufacturer protocol is released, you simply tap "Upgrade" on the tablet. We recommend checking for updates weekly to ensure you have the latest bug fixes and model coverage.
What warranty comes with the Phoenix Lite 2?
You get full UK-based warranty support. If you encounter any hardware issues, you deal directly with Mobile Eco Tuning (MET) in the UK. We handle the process efficiently so you aren't left without your primary diagnostic tool for long.
