Dimsport HVR Adapter Cable F36TG108 for TheGenius HVR Mode (Bosch MDG1 AURIX)
Boot. Unlock. Bench.
Unlock protected Bosch MDG1 AURIX ECUs, then work them on the bench with TheGenius
The Dimsport HVR adapter cable (part number F36TG108) enables HVR Mode on TheGenius, unlocking selected Bosch MDG1 ECUs built after 2021 with protected Infineon AURIX TC298TP or TC299TP microcontrollers. After a two point Boot connection, the ECU is closed and read or programmed in Bench mode, opening these units to professional calibration work.

What is HVR Mode on TheGenius?
HVR Mode is a dedicated unlocking procedure within Dimsport’s TheGenius platform, built specifically for a selection of Bosch MDG1 engine control units manufactured after 2021 that use protected Infineon AURIX TC298TP and TC299TP microcontrollers. HVR stands for High Voltage Regulation, and the procedure depends on this purpose designed adapter cable, which connects directly to the ECU board while the unit is open in Boot mode.
The principle is simple and highly practical. The protection is dealt with once, in Boot, with the ECU opened on the bench. The unit is then closed and every subsequent read and write is carried out in Bench mode through TheGenius, on compatible diesel and petrol applications. For a tuning workshop, that turns a family of ECUs that previously sat in the “not possible” column into a repeatable, controlled bench job.
Why later Bosch MDG1 AURIX ECUs need a dedicated solution
Bosch’s MDG1 platform splits into MD1 units for diesel engines and MG1 units for petrol engines, and both are built around Infineon’s AURIX TriCore microcontrollers. The AURIX family includes on chip security hardware, and on the later production units covered here the controller is protected in a way that conventional OBD and standard bench access cannot get past. That is why these ECUs have been such a sticking point for independent calibrators, particularly on newer commercial vehicles, SUVs and agricultural machinery.
HVR Mode addresses that protection at board level. Rather than attempting a workaround through the vehicle’s diagnostic port, the HVR cable makes a two point connection directly on the ECU board. Dimsport designed the procedure this way for precision and for tight synchronisation throughout the unlock, which matters enormously when you are working on a controller that will reject anything less than a clean, stable session.
The HVR workflow: unlock in Boot, finish on the bench
The procedure follows a clear sequence. The ECU is opened and the HVR adapter cable is connected directly to the board in Boot, which Dimsport refers to as OPEN mode. The two point connection is made, and one resistor on the board is temporarily removed as part of the procedure. TheGenius then carries out the unlock in HVR Mode.
Once the unlock is complete, the resistor is refitted, the ECU is closed, and the job moves straight to Bench mode. From there, TheGenius reads and programmes the ECU in the normal bench workflow on compatible applications. The practical benefit is that the invasive part of the work happens once, and the calibration stage runs through the same bench process your technicians already know.
Because the procedure involves board level connection and component removal, it rewards careful preparation: a clean, static safe bench, a stable power source, good magnification and proper rework equipment. This is the standard we hold ourselves to in the Mobile Eco Tuning HQ workshop, and it is the standard we coach across our network of more than 800 agents.
Supported applications across car, commercial and agricultural sectors
The first release of HVR Mode covers thirteen Bosch MDG1 variants, and the spread is notable. On the road vehicle side it includes MD1 and MG1 units fitted to PSA, VAG, FCA, Ford and Land Rover applications. On the heavy duty and off highway side it includes MD1 units for CNH, FPT and IVECO, for Carraro, John Deere and Massey Ferguson, and for Deutz.
For UK workshops that handle agricultural and plant work alongside cars and vans, that mix is valuable. It means a single TheGenius setup with the HVR cable can serve a farm tractor and a Land Rover on the same bench. Always check the exact ECU variant and microcontroller against the supported list below before quoting a job, because coverage is defined by the specific ECU and processor combination rather than by vehicle brand alone.
Why buy from Mobile Eco Tuning
Mobile Eco Tuning are recognised specialists in ECU calibration and hold a strong working relationship with Dimsport. We run Dimsport hardware in our own UK HQ workshop and support a network of more than 800 agents who rely on bench and Boot procedures every day. When you buy the HVR adapter through us, you get more than a part number: you get UK based technical support from people who understand board level ECU work, and access to our tuning file service for the calibration that follows the unlock.

💡 Mobile Eco Tuning Pro Tip:
Treat the resistor removal as the highest risk step of the whole job, not the unlock itself. Before you lift it, photograph the board under magnification and mark the footprint, because MDG1 boards are dense and a disturbed neighbouring component is a far more common cause of an ECU that will not wake on the bench than any software fault. Use hot air with fresh flux rather than dragging an iron across the pads, and keep the resistor in a labelled anti static bag with the job card. Run the whole procedure from a regulated bench power supply, never a battery on charge, since a voltage dip mid session is the fastest way to turn a routine unlock into a recovery. Once the ECU is closed, take a full Bench read of every available area and store it against the ECU serial and VIN before writing anything, then log the unlock on the customer record so future revisions go straight to the bench without reopening the case.
